Over 2.50 lakh LPG consumers who booked cylinders in the first seven days of this month have received the advance under the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme. According to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas sources, 10 crore rupees have been transferred in the Aadhaar seeded bank accounts of the beneficiaries so far.
About 30 thousand DBT transactions are being executed every day. The Direct Transfer of LPG subsidy to the bank accounts of LPG consumers began on the 1st of this month in 18 districts spread over ten states. These districts have around 60 lakh LPG consumers.
Under the scheme, all LPG consumers with Aadhaar seeded bank accounts would be given an advance amount of 435 rupees per cylinder booked, immediately on booking a cylinder.
This would be credited automatically in their accounts. Other consumers who do not have Aadhaar seeded bank accounts would continue to get LPG cylinders at subsidized rates, but they have to get their bank accounts seeded with Aadhaar numbers within three months.
AIR Correspondent reports that with the increase in Aadhaar seeded bank accounts, the number of transactions per day, will go up.
