n Jammu & Kashmir, the Swach Bharat Abhiyan (Mission) launched on 2nd October 2014 is being implemented with encouraging physical achievements in the state. As per baseline survey of 2012, a total of 4.13 lac households have been provided toilet facility that accounts for 24.55% out of total 16.82 lac households. <br/><br/>Director Sanitation Directorate Abdul Rahman Ghasi told AIR that by end of March 2016, over 2 lakh 45 thousand toilets were constructed under Swach Bharat Mission (SBM). With this the total number of households with toilet facility has reached to 6 lakh 58 thousand. He said during 2015-16, 240 Community Sanitary Complexes were constructed against the target of 238 such complexes.<br/><br/>It is hoped that the objective of bringing about an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation shall be vigorously in Jammu & Kashmir state.
