The Government today informed that there are 75 Wetlands of International Importance as Ramsar sites covering an area of 1.33 million hectares in the country. Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey said more than 2 lakh 31 thousand wetlands have been mapped in the Country by Space Application Centre ISRO, Ahmedabad.<br />'' <br />''He also informed that recently a National Wetland Decadal Change Atlas 2017 has been published on the status of wetlands in the country. Mr. Choubey further informed that to maintain information about the ecological conditions of wetlands National Wetlands Committee and State Wetlands Authorities have been constituted within their jurisdiction.
