At least 17 insurgents have been killed and 54 others arrested in ongoing operations by the joint Afghan and NATO forces in different provinces of Afghanistan during the last 24 hours. A press release issued by the Afghan Interior Ministry in Kabul says the anti-insurgents operations were launched in nine provinces. A number of sophisticated arms, ammunitions and explosive materials were also recovered during the operations.
Afghan intelligence agency averted a massive suicide attack in Kabul yesterday by arresting five suicide bombers with 560 kg of explosives just near Kabul international airport. The explosives were placed inside a mini van. It is not clear whether the attackers wanted to target the Ariport or some other institution
