Over 14,000 posts earmarked for persons with disabilities have been lying vacant in various central government ministries, banks and PSUs. Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today. Mr Singh said, Centre has asked all concerned to carry out a special drive to fill these vacancies.<br/> <br/>The Minister informed, as per the data received from various departments, nationalised banks, financial institutions, central public sector undertakings, among others, there were fourteen thousand 267 vacancies identified for persons with disabilities. These included backlog vacancies carried forward from earlier years. The Minister informed that government had issued instructions in May this year to all concerned to take immediate necessary action for filling up of vacancies and to launch a special recruitment drive to fill up these vacancies by February next year.
