Over one lakh 25 thousand pilgrims performed Haj through Haj Committee during 2012. This information was given by External Affairs Salman Khurshid in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. He said as per bilateral Haj agreement signed between India and Saudi Arabia, the quota allocated to India for Haj-2012 was 1,70,000 with 1,25,000 to go through the Haj Committee and 45,000 through Private Tour Operators (PT)s). The Minister said 335 qualified PTOs were allotted quota during Haj-2012 on the basis of criteria laid down in the Haj-2012 PTO policy duly approved by the Supreme Court.
