Over 100 lakh tonne rice has been procured by the government agencies during ongoing Kharif Marketing Season so far. According to an official release, the procurement is around six lakh tones more than the procured rice during the same period of last season. Highest procurement of over 76 lakh tonne rice has been reported from Punjab followed by over 24 lakh tonne from Haryana. While Andhra Pardesh has procured over 33 thousand tonne of rice. Chandigarh has also made significant procurement by procuring over 11 thousand tonne.
