Over 100 injured in B’desh during protest against Women’s policy

In Bangladesh, more than 100 people have been detained by police on Monday following clashes with protestors belonging to Islamists groups who have called a countrywide dawn to dusk hartal against the National Women’s development policy.With the protestors resorting to vandalism in several place, Police had to use tear gas and lathi charge in several places to disperse the protesting activists. Islamic groups under the banner of Islamic Law implementation committee in Bangladesh have called for the hartal which is underway to protest against The National Women Development Policy which provides for equal rights for women to wealth and employment. Addressing a rally in Cox’s Bazaar on Sunday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asserted that the policy does not violate Islam and anyone trying to mislead people in the name of religion and trying to create chaos will be dealt with under laws of the country.
