Over 100 fall ill after consuming items contaminated buck wheat in Delhi

Over 100 persons in east Delhi were today hospitalised as they fell ill after consuming food articles made of contaminated buck wheat. AIR correspondent reports, the police has urged residents not to buy articles from open sacks. Scores of people in Nandnagri, Gokalpuri, Jagatpuri, Gandhinagar, Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri and Chilla Gaon were affected and were being admitted at various hospitals since this morning.Patients complained of vomiting, stomach ache, diarrhoea, and dizziness poured in at different hospitals including Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and Dr Hedgewar Hospital. The Police have detained some people in connection with the incident.The Delhi Government has also ordered a probe into theincident. Our correspondent reports, the district administration and emergency services have been alerted and teams of Food and Adulteration Department have also been pressed into service.
