In Brazil, more than 100 people have been killed during the six-day strike of police demanding higher salaries and more benefits in Espirito Santo state. Schools, health clinics, businesses are closed and public transportation was at a standstill in the state. <br/><br/>Head of the state's Public Safety Department Andre Garcia has said about 1,200 federal soldiers had been deployed in the State. He said, the State needed hundreds more federal troops and members of an elite federal police force to help establish order and make up for the 1,800 state police who normally patrol Vitoria's metropolitan area.
