In Assam, over 10 thousand extremists have surrendered to the Government since 1998. According to official sources, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) topped the list of surrendered extremists as during the period from 1998 to March 5 this year, more than 4260 extremists belonging to the outfit laid down arms. The list included 2711 extremists of the Bodo Liberation Tiger which was disbanded following the signing of the Memorandum of Settlement between the Government and the outfit in 2003.<br/><br/> The list also included 514 Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front and 416 jewel group of Dima Halam Dauga extremists. These outfits surrendered weapons to come for talks with the Government for political solution of their problems.<br/><br/><br/>
