In Haryana, during the current Kharif season, more than 10.83 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy have so far arrived in the mandis.During this period last year 6.64 lakh MT of paddy has arrived.Kurukshetra is leading with maximum arrival of paddy at more than 3.16 lakh MT followed by Karnal.Stating this at Chandigarh today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that of the total arrival, more than 10.39 lakh MT paddy was leviable and 44,030 MT paddy was non-leviable.The spokesman said that government procurement agencies have purchased more than 9.71 lakh MT paddy while millers and dealers have purchased 1.12 lakh MT paddy.The spokesman said that paddy that meets the criteria would be procured in any case.Farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing them to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content.
