Over one lakh villages in the country have been fully electrified under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY). Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said in the Rajya Sabha that around 3 lakh 82 thousand villages have been partially electrified. Responding to supplementaries during Question Hour, he said progress is slow in respect of some states. Mr Scindia said the Centre provides assistance to the tune of 90 per cent to help the states complete various schemes under RGGVY. The Minister said 648 schemes under RGGVY approved in the 10th and 11th plans, are being implemented through 147 Central Public Sector Undertakings and 501 State Power Utilities in the country.
