Over 1 lakh 72 thousand crore to be required for implementation of right to education act

Government says, according to initial estimates 1 lakh 72 thousand crore rupees will be required for the implementation of right to education act in the country during next five years. Replying to supplemntaries in the Rajya Sabha today, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal informed the House that it will take some time before the exercise is completed. <br/> <br/>Mr Sibal informed that the act was discussed with state education ministers and experts and a committee was also set up by the government to suggest follow up action for implementing the act. He told members that the state governments have endorsed the provisions of the act and have requested for financial outlays. To a specific query, he said there is no difference of opinion in the Central Advisory Board of Education in making changes in the education pattern and a resolution to this effect was unanimously adopted in the meeting. <br/> <br/>
