Outreach programme on GST held

For benefits of businessmen and trading community, an 'Outreach programme on Goods and Services Tax' was organized by Central Excise, Custom and Service Tax today at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong. <br/><br/>The aim of the programme is to sensitize businessmen on the new tax legislation called the "Goods and Services Tax" to be implement across the country soon. <br/><br/>Addressing the programme, Commissioner of Central Excise and Service Tax, Shillong, Gaigongdin Panmei said the outreach programme was the first of its kind to be held in the North Eastern States. He said, the GST will usher in a dawn of co-operation between different stakeholders. <br/><br/>The new Good and Service Tax will not only modernize the tax system but will prove to be a tax payer friendly mechanism. Mr Panmei said the new GST strives to make India 'One nation, one tax'.
