Otto Warmbier, the American student held in captivity in North Korea for more than 15 months, has died a week after returning home. <br/><br/>Announcing his death, Warmbier's family said in a statement that he received awful torturous mistreatment at the hands of the North Koreans. <br/><br/>Warmbier was serving 15 years hard labour, accused of attempting to steal a propaganda sign from a hotel. <br/><br/>The 22-year-old was medically evacuated to the United States on Tuesday last week, suffering from severe brain damage. <br/><br/>Warmbier was on a tourist trip when he was arrested and sentenced in March last year.<br/><br/>US President Donald Trump has denounced Pyongyang as a brutal regime. <br/><br/>Offering his condolence to the Warmbier family, Mr Trump said, US once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as the country mourn its latest victim.<br/>
