Oscar Pistorius must not be granted parole, panel rules

In South Africa, a panel has ruled that paralympian Oscar Pistorius must not be granted parole and instead faces an appeal for longer jail sentence. Pistorius was sentenced to 5 years in prison for killing his girlfriend. Prosecutors want Pistorius convicted for murder, which carries a jail sentence of up to 25 years. They will appeal on the 3rd of next month to argue the original trial judge misinterpreted the law. Under South African law, Pistorius is eligible for parole after just ten months behind bars. It is not clear when the prisons parole board will reconsider Pistorius' bid for freedom.
