OROP suicide: Ex-serviceman's postmortem completed

Forensic experts last night conducted the postmortem of the body of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal whose allegedly committed suicide over the OROP issue in New Delhi on Tuesday.<br/><br/>The body was sent to Lady Hardinge Hospital from RML Hospital where he had died after being rushed there. He had allegedly consumed poison on the lawns of a government building in the heart of the national capital. Hospital sources said, the postmortem began at around 9:30 PM and the report is currently with the hospital. The ex-servicemen's body was sent to his home town Bhiwani in Haryana after the postmortem.<br/><br/>The suicide by the army veteran over OROP snowballed into a political show as Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and some other opposition leaders were detained and prevented from entering the hospital. Mr Gandhi was detained twice and was finally released late in the evening. Mr Kejriwal and Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also detained but was released later by the Delhi Police. <br/><br/>BJP hit out at Congress Vice President and Delhi Chief Minister accusing them of doing politics over alleged deaths of an ex-serviceman on OROP issue. Party Secretary Shrikant Sharma termed the incident as unfortunate and asserted that the NDA government has fulfilled its commitment on OROP and ex-servicemen are benefiting from it.<br/><br/>He alleged that Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Kejriwal pick and choose deaths for their politics. Mr. Sharma also described Congress Vice-President as a part-time and non-serious politician saying his party's government always misled ex-servicemen. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, Delhi Police has said that prohibitory orders imposed under Section 144 of CrPC in the Connaught Place sub-division of the city will be strictly enforced. Delhi Police said, the prohibitory orders are enforced in Connaught Place till December 28 and in view of the problems faced by public due to protests and demonstrations, the orders will be strictly enforced. ACP Connaught Place Ramesh Kumar said in a statement that any person contravening prohibitory orders will be punished under section 188 of IPC.
