Delhi Police today apologised to ex-servicemen for its action on the eve of Independence Day at Jantar Mantar and urged them to call off their agitation over the One Rank, One Pension, OROP issue. Joint Commissioner of Police MK Meena went to the protest venue at Jantar Mantar today and apologised for the August 14th crackdown which had triggered strong political reaction as well as outrage among the former soldiers. <br/><br/>The ex-servicemen had demanded suspension of the officer who had ordered the crack down on peacefully agitating ex-servicemen. Addressing a press conference at the protest venue, Meena said, what happened on 14th of this month was due to some confusion and misunderstanding and it will not be repeated. He said, police is for providing security to them. Mr Meena said Delhi Police has full respect for Army and ex-servicemen.
