Women and Child Development Minister Pramila Mallick resigned from the Cabinet today. This follows allegations of her involvement in the multi-crore dal scam under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme and Special Nutrition Programme. She tendered her resignation papers to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Bhubaneswar. Opposition Congress and BJP had been demanding her resignation over the dal scam. The vigilance department which is probing into the scam has also found a number of district collectors and senior officials involved in the scam.
