The Orissa Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik today met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh with regard to the Polavaram (Indira Sagar) project and the Posco steel project.The state government has been opposing the Polavaram project over river Godavari by Andhra Pradesh government as it claims that it would submerge many areas of Malkangiri district of Orissa. The Chief Minister later told newsmen that the Prime Minister assured him that the tribal villages will not be inundated. He also told the Prime Minister that the work on the Posco steel project should not be stopped. Mr. Patnaik said that the Prime Minister has said that he would see that this matter is taken up. On Vedanta bauxite mining project, the Chief Minister said that his government has already responded to the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
