In Orissa, the famous agriculture based festival "Nuakhai" is being celebrated with traditional flavour and gaity today in several districts of Western Orissa. On this occasion, millions of people offered with first crop of the season to their presiding deities in celebration of the harvest festival that spreads the message of goodwill and brotherhood. As a tradition, the senior member of the family distributes the "Nabarna" to the rest of members. Thereafter, people greet each other, junior members of family seek blessing of seniors. Varieties of cultural programmes are being organised to mark this festival in every corner of Western Orissa.
