A short session of the Orissa Assembly is beginning today to pass the vote-on-account for the first four months of 2010-11. The session is likely to be stormy with the opposition parties Congress and BJP getting set to corner the Naveen Patnaik Government over the multi-crore mining scam and other several issues. They have been demanding a CBI probe into the mining scam and explanation from the government on suicide by large number of farmers, sexual exploitation of tribal girls in kanyashrams and hunger deaths in parts of Orissa. The ruling Biju Janata Dal has decided to counter the opposition onslaught by raising Centre’s apathy towards Orissa in railway budget and Thirteenth Finance Commission.
