SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B. Sial has said that the organization attaches great importance to its agenda for the promotion of welfare of children. <br/><br/>Addressing the maiden meeting of the South Asia Parliamentarians Platform for Children after assuming the charge of Secretary General in Kathmandu today, he said that SAARC will ensure the implementation of its Social Charter, Declarations of the SAARC Summits, Ministerial Statements, and the SAARC Decade for the Rights of the Children.<br/><br/>'The two-day meeting with the theme of "Making The Sustainable Development Goals work for children in South Asia", was organized by UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia and it was attended by parliamentarians from Member States of SAARC.<br/><br/>'Highlighting important areas related to children including nutrition, sanitation and children affected by AIDS and disasters, he said transformational, ambitious and more inclusive global agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals have aspired to change the fate of those left behind.
