Opposition wants to debate outside Parliament rather than inside, says BJP

Hitting out at Congress for the logjam in Parliament, BJP today said the opposition party wants to debate outside Parliament rather than inside it. Briefing media in New Delhi, party leader Nirmala Sitaraman said BJP is ready to debate death penalty laws and added that Yakub Memon's death was as per law and separate from larger debate. She said if Congress wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, they should let him speak.

Saying that Congress should introspect what they want, she alleged that it is against every bill which is going to improve economy of country, whether its Goods and Services Tax or Land Bill.

On Congress allegations that former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had misused his office to usurp public land, Ms Sitaraman said the matter has been in court for last 11 years. She said if Congress was so serious about the allegations, it is surprising that none of them appeared in front of the court.
