The implementation of the law relating to reservation for the candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes in promotion was the main topic of discussion in both the houses of Maharashtra Legislature yesterday. The Opposition members stressed the need for speedy implementation of the said law in the Legislative Assembly mentioning that it was not done even after eight years of creating the law for this purpose. Leader of Opposition Mr. Eknath Khadse had given a notice for Adjournment Motion on this topic. The members belonging to various political parties criticized the State Govt. For neglecting the cause of the OBCs while the Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan said that the bill was initiated by the Govt. and also alleged the Opposition for misleading the house.

The members urged that implementation of the said law should not be held up further for want of legal expert’s opinion or any other excuse. Speaker Mr. Dilip Walse Patil also suggested the Chief Minister to sort out the issue in a separate meeting at the earliest possible which was readily accepted by him. But, the Opposition members dissatisfied by the lack of firm assurance in this regard staged a walkout amidst the noisy protests.
