Opposition uproar continues to rock Parliament

Both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for the day following uproar by the opposition over several issues. However, the Lok Sabha has passed the Payment Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2017 without discussion.<br />''<br />''The bill aims at increasing the upper ceiling of the gratuity from the present 10 lakh rupees to 20 lakh rupees for employees. The House also passed the Specific Relief (Amendment) Bill, 2017 amidst the din.<br />''<br />''Later, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till tomorrow. Earlier, the House also witnessed noisy scenes with the Congress-led opposition members trooping into the well. Members belonging to AIADMK, TMC, TRS, YSR Congress and NDA's partner Telugu Desam Party raised slogans in support of their demands.<br />''<br />''In Rajya Sabha Opposition members again trooped into the well, when the House re-assembled at 3 PM. <br />''<br />''Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien refused to allow TDP leader and former Union Minister Y S Chowdary to speak on the reasons for his resignation from the Council of Ministers, saying that he can approach the Chairman tomorrow. <br />''<br />''Responding to this, TDP members also trooped into the well, raising slogans. The Deputy Chairman observed that the Upper House will be irrelevant if it does not discuss and return the Finance Bill and Appropriation Bills to the Lok Sabha. Later, he adjourned the House till tomorrow as noisy scenes continued.
