Opposition up against oil price hike

Several states witnessed protests against the oil price hike in the country.<br/><br/>The BJP held demonstrations in various parts of the National capital to protest against the government's decision to deregulate prices of petrol and hike in the prices of Diesel and LPG. Hundreds of Party activists blocked various roads . AIR correspondent reports demonstrations were held at ITO Chowk, Mayapuri Chowk, Uttam Nagar Chowk, Deepali Chowk, Khajuri Khas, BRT Corridor and Wazirpur. The Party has alleged that large scale arrests were made to prevent the workers from holding demonstrations across the capital.<br/><br/>BJP also held protest in Mumbai against the increase in price of petroleum products as well as overall inflation. Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde led an agitation of party workers in the city. Addressing the gathering outside state BJP office in South Mumbai, he said, the anti-people policies of the UPA government are responsible for inflation. He condemned the fuel price rise announced yesterday and said, this will pose additional burden on common man.<br/><br/>Normal life is affected in West Bengal and Kerala following a strike to protest the steep hike in petroleum prices. AIR correspondent reports most of the private buses, taxies, auto rikshaw are off the road in Kolkata following the 24 hour Transport Strike called by the CITU in West Bengal.<br/><br/>In Kerela, the dawn-to-dusk strike called by the CPI(M)-led ruling LDF also hits normal life. AIR correspondent reports that the public transport and commercial vehicles are off the roads.<br/>
