Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that Opposition parties should not indulge in the hypocritical practice and must appreciate the good works of the government. <br />'' <br />'' Participating in the discussion on Motion of thanks to the President's address in Rajya Sabha today, he said, there is no proposal to implement NRC across the country. <br />'' <br />'' He said that NRC had been introduced the first time by the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and NPR in 2010, but it was not opposed at that time by the Opposition parties. He said, now it is being opposed by the opposition parties which is not a good practice. <br />'' <br />'' Mr. Javadekar said, Article 370 was temporary in nature, hence, it was abrogated. On the question of detention of political leaders in the Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of article 370, he alleged that it was Congress that put the Sheikh Abdullah in detention for the 11 years. Further, Mr. Javadekar said, CAA was introduced for the welfare of the persecuted minorities as refugees who have come to India from Pakistan were facing the tough situation there.<br />'' <br />'' Rejecting the Opposition claim that CAA is against a particular religion, he said, any foreigner can apply for the citizenship of India.<br />'' The discussion is underway. <br />''
