Opposition says budget is directionless; Cong says budget good & balanced

Senior CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta today said the budget is directionless. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr Dasgupta said the Finance Minister has not outlined from where he would mobilise the resources. Echoing Mr Dasgupta's sentiments, BJD leader Bhartruhari Mehtab wondered from where the Finance Minister would pull the resources for the number of plans and programmes that he has spelt out in the budget. The BJP said that there is nothing in the budget for the common man. The senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said the budget has nothing for the poor and the farmers. He added that the government has not taken any concrete steps to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks. Janata Dal United leader Sharad Yadav has said that there is nothing in the budget to bring down inflation. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today termed the budget as good and balanced. He said it will promote inclusive growth and the projected increase in revenues will be used for augmenting investment in health, education and security sectors. HRD and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal expressed happiness over 24 thousand crore rupees being granted for telecom sector. Mr Sibal said a slew of incentives have been provided for augmenting education sector.
