Opposition parties strongly oppose Mayawati's proposal to trifurcate of state

In Uttar Pradesh opposition parties have strongly opposed the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati's proposal to trifurcate of the state.<br/><br/>Leader of the opposition in State Assembly and Samajwadi Party leader Mr. Shivpal Singh Yadav has said that his party was never in favour of small states and division of Uttar Pradesh would not be in favour of national interest. In a statement released at Lucknow Mr. Yadav has said that small states always invites interference of central as they seek central help most of the time for their development as small states lack the natural resources. Mr. Yadav has said that if Mayawati was unable to run the administration of the state she should resign.<br/><br/>SP MP Ms. Jaya Prada has also said the BSP supremo considers the state as a cake that she wants to cut into pieces. Terming state government’s proposal dangerous, anti-people and anti-development she has said that she will lead the movement against the proposal.<br/><br/>Bhartiya Kisan Union president Mahendra Singh Tikait has also opposed creation of smaller states and instead called for their merger. He has said that any division whether that of family, property or state was wrong.<br/>
