Taking to media outside parliament, BSP Chief Mayawati alleged that his departure was made possible with the help of the government. She also questioned the previous UPA government how it allowed sanctioning of such a huge loan amount without investigations.

JD(U) President Sharad Yadav disagreed with Vijay Mallya's claim that he is not an absconder and would comply with the law. Mr. Yadav said the industrialist's comments do not make any sense. He also alleged that it is the failure of the Centre that Mr. Mallya could flee the country.

Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agrawal said Mr. Mallya should not be allowed to continue his membership in Rajya Sabha any more as he is an absconder now.
