Both the houses of Parliament witnessed uproarious scene on the issue of Black Money stashed abroad.
The Lok Sabha today witnessed repeated adjournments, first till 12 noon, then till 2 p.m. and finally for the day, following uproar on the issue of Black money and Mumbai violence. During Zero hour, the Chair allowed Shiv Sena member Anant Gite to speak who voiced his protest against the violence at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena members also showed newspaper reports, and photographs on the incident. Mr. Gite alleged, that the government inaction had led to wide spread violence. As shouting of slogans continued to disrupt the proceedings, the Chair adjourned the house.
The Rajya Sabha was also adjourned for a brief period before lunch following noisy scenes as BJP members demanded a time- frame for bringing back the black money stashed abroad. Both the Minister of State in the PMO, Mr V Narayanasamy and the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Rajiv Shukla assured the House that the government is willing to hold a discussion in this regard.
Following noisy scenes, the Vice Chairman, Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the House till 2 PM. Earlier, responding to the demands, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mrs Ambika Soni said that the government had already brought a White paper on black money.
Later the Rajya Sabha today passed the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) Bill, 2010. The Bill seeks to declare the Bangalore-based hospital as an Institution of National Importance.
Replying to a brief discussion, the Health Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad shared the concern expressed by the members over the rising trend of mental ill-health among people in the country.
