The Lok Sabha witnessed unruly scenes during the question hour and it has to be adjourned for ten minutes on the issue of religious conversion, today. As soon the house met for the day, leaders from various political parties including Congress, TMC and SP raised the issue and trooped in the well. They were demanding for the suspension of question-hour to have a discussion on this issue by passing a special motion. However, the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed it saying that if you all want discussion, give a notice. Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, M. Venkaiah Naidu clarified that government is ready to discuss the issue. However, it does not amount to any law and order situation in the country. He said government is not averse to making a law on the conversion and re-conversion issue but it should precede a thorough discussion among all the political parties. Earlier, the house made a obituary reference to its former member, Anna Joshi.
The issue of religious conversion is likely to be taken up for discussion by the Lok Sabha post lunch session. Opposition parties raised the issue during the zero hour and asked for discussion in the house. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudi said the government is ready to have a full discussion on it.
