Opposition demands CBI probe in Sachan death

In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has said that it would move public interest litigation (PIL) before the Allahabad High Court seeking a CBI probe into the alleged murder of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Y S Sachan inside the Lucknow jail premises and the brutal rape and killing of a teenage girl inside the Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur-Kheri district.Talking to media persons at Lucknow, Union Coal Minister and senior Congress leader Shree Prakash Jaiswal alleged that the State Government was avoiding handing over the cases to the CBI as it would expose the role of many high-ups. He demanded that Chief Minister Mayawati step down from office taking moral responsibility for the prevailing state of lawlessness and insecurity in the state. Mr. Jaiswal alleged the life and security of innocent girls and women, especially those belonging to the Dalits and poor households were in danger and the state had become totally insensitive.Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party and BJP have also made a fresh demand for a CBI probe into Sachan’s death, maintaining that his family members have no faith in the state investigating agencies.
