Opposition decides to launch nation-wide agitation against price rise

<br/>The Opposition has decided to launch a nation-wide agitation against the price rise of essential commodities and the propose increase in the central excise duties on petrol and diesel. Briefing media persons outside Parliament, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mrs Sushma Swaraj described the budget, presented by the Finance Minister as anti-poor. She said the prices of essential commodities will go up as a result of levying taxes.<br/><br/>Janata Dal(United) leader, Mr. Sharad Yadav said the budget will add more miseries to the common man. Mr Gurudas Dasgupta of the CPI described the budget as anti-common man, anti-kisan and workers. Mr Lalu Prasad of the RJD said the budget will cause further inflation putting the people in hardship. He said his party will launch agitation against the UPA government.<br/><br/>The Samajwadi Party Chief, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav said, that the government has belied the expectations of the common people. He said the labour class and the farming community will be the worst affected. The Congress described the budget as very fine act of balancing the economy. The Party Spokesman, Mr. Manish Tiwari, said the budget has given a boost to the social and infrastructure sectors. He criticised the opposition for staging a walkout in the midst of Finance Minister's budget speech. This is an insult to the constitution. Former Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, spoke in favour of the budget.
