In Maharashtra, the opposition on Monday continued to boycott the Legislative Assembly proceedings over suspension of nine Shiv Sena-BJP MLAs by the government last week. The ruling and the Opposition leaders met in Speaker Dilip Wasle Patil's chamber this morning to resolve the deadlock. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, leaders of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and the Council Eknath Khadse and Pandurang Phundkar and group leaders of other parties were present in the meeting. The nine suspended legislators were also present in the meeting despite the order last week, which bars their entry into the premises till the 31st of December, 2011. Opposition members in the Legislative Council are also not attending the proceedings since Friday.Nine MLAs of the saffron parties were suspended last week for disrupting the presentation of budget by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The Opposition wants the suspension to be revoked.
