Opposition Congress legislators in Chhattisgarh have offered to resign en-masse from the state legislative assembly to force dissolution of the House and imposition of President rule in the wake of security lapses that led to Maoist ambush and death of Congress leaders on May 25.

Senior Congress leader and former Minister Mohammad Akbar said, the legislators offered to quit from the assembly at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), which met at the residence of leader of the opposition Ravindra Choubey this evening.

Leader of the Opposition, Ravindra Choubey said, legislators view would now be communicated to the party high command.

AIR Correspondent reports that 24 legislators attended today’s CLP meeting.

Maoists had ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders on a parivartan yatra on May 25, killing 30 people, including state PCC chief Nandkumar Patel, senior tribal leader Mahendra Karma, and critically injuring senior leader and former Union Minister V C Shukla.
