Opposition can’t set preconditions for Parliamentary discussions

Congress today said that Opposition can not set preconditions for conducting discussions in Parliament.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, Party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi accused the Opposition of converting Parliament into a field of agitation from an institution of discussion.

Charging opposition with irresponsible behaviour, Mr. Singhvi said that it has consistently changed its ground to gain political mileage. He said that government is ready to discuss all issues in Parliament including price rise, black money and FDI in retail.

Replying to a question, Mr. Singhvi said that the timing of the decision to allow FDI in retail sector shows government's transparent approach in policy making.

Mr. Singhvi added that Congress will persuade and convince its allies who are opposing the Cabinet's decision on FDI once the Opposition allow Parliament to function.
