Opposition calls for effective, long term policy on china

The opposition today called for an effective and long term policy on china while cautioning the government against its aggressive designs. The members drew the attention of the government to the Chinese incursions as well as its recent aggressive posturing. Initiating the discussion in Lok Sabha today Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said that there is a need to introspect deeply on what are the intentions behind this. He said that there have been over 200 incursions by Chinese last year, Beijing opposed the Prime Minister and Dalai Lama's visit to Arunachala Pradesh, it issued s issue paper visas to kashmiris and pointed how China and Pakistan are together creating problems for India. He wanted the government to address the members concerns and take parliament into confidence on its China policy because the issue involves the country's security and future. Sandip Dikshit of the Congress dismissed the fear psychosis with regard to China saying that India is fully equipped to defend its pride. He said that despite Chinese objections, both the Prime Minister and Dalai Lama visited Arunachal Pradesh. He said a mechanism has been put in place to solve the boundary issue. He however said that the country needs to remain alert<br/>
