Opp to take Lokpal, Lokayukta bill in RS during Budget

The government has assured the opposition that it will take up the Lokpal and Lokayukta bill for discussion in the Rajya Sabha in the first part of the Budget Session. This was stated by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal while responding to the demands by the opposition. He said the government is committed to put in place a strong mechanism to check corruption in the society. Mr. Bansal assured the members saying that the Lokpal bill has been listed on the top in the business schedule for the Budget Session.

Earlier raising the matter, Leader of Opposition Mr arun Jitley wanted to know from the government the status of the opposition notices on the bill. He was supported by leaders belonging to several parties including Left parties, JD(U), BJDm and Trinamool Congress. They said the discussion on the bill remained inconclusive on the 29th of December when the House was adjourned sine die.
