Senior Congress leader and Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said that the main Opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party is lying to the people of the country on the facts of the allocation of coal blocks. Mr. Sibal yesterday pointed out that the states ruled by the BJP had opposed competitive bidding.
The BJP alleged that the Congress is defending the indefensible in allegations of anomalies in Coal allocation. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar insisted that each allotment was approved by Prime Minister.
The Bahujan Samaj Pary demanded extending the ongoing session of Parliament and asked the Centre to find a middle path in coal block issue to end disruptions caused by BJP. BSP Chief Mayawati sought extending the ongoing Monsoon Session by 10 to 12 days so that the constitution amendment bill providing quota in promotion to SC/ST's could be passed. Today is the last day of the session.
