The ongoing operation in Saranda forest range in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has now been stopped. Talking to the reporters at Ranchi, the Director General of CRPF Vikram Srivastava said that the security forces are aware of many details of naxals presence and their movements in the Saranda forest range, and the future anti- naxal operation would planning would take note of these things. As reported earlier, three security personnel and estimated 12 Maoists have been killed in this encounter which lasted for three days between Tiriposhi and Bitkilsoi area in the thick Saranda forest range of Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district touching Orissa. Around 5,000 security personnel comprising state police of Jharkhand and Orissa and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF took part in this operation, which was led by a Deputy Inspector General of police of Kolhan Range Naveen Kumar Singh. Six SP level officers are taking part in the operation, in which three helicopters were deployed for surveillance and airlifting of injured security personnel.
