Congress MP Priya Dutt on Wednesday said that the onus of ensuring safety of women lies with the state police and state governments. She expressed serious concern over the killing of a college girl who was allegedly shot dead by her stalker in broad day light in south Delhi on Tuesday. Talking to reporters outside Parliament she said that immediate remedial measures should be taken to ensure safety and security of females. BJP on the other hand asked the Home Minister P Chidambaram to take responsibility for the matter as the national capital directly comes under the Central government. Party spokesman Shahnawaz Hussein called for strong measures to ensure safety of women.
