‘Only Cong-TMC combine can bring change in Bengal’

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has criticised the CPI (M)-led Left Front Government in West Bengal for non-performance and lack of development in the last 34 years of its rule. Addressing an election rally at Katwa in Burdwan district this morning, Singh said only the Congress and the Trinamul-Congress combine could bring stability in the state. He said the local bodies like the panchayats would be strengthened if the Congress-Trinamul Congress combine comes to power in West Bengal. Promising a better future for minorities, Dr. Singh said that new technology would be involved in farming and agriculture sectors and new initiatives would be taken up in State tourism. Speaking at the rally, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee castigated the Left-front Government for failure in all fronts. He said if the Congress-Trinamool Congress combine comes to power, village development and law and order will be taken up at a priority.
