Onion production in 2017-18 is likely to be around 214 lakh tonnes which is 4.5 percent lower than the previous year's product of 224 lakh tonnes. <br/><br/>This has been revealed by the first advance estimates of Horticulture production. However, the total Horticulture production is estimated to be at an impressive level of 305.4 million tonnes. <br/><br/>It is 1.6 per cent higher than the previous year and 8 per cent higher than the past 5 years' average production. Agriculture Ministry in a release said, production of fruits is estimated to be about 95 million tonnes which is 2 per cent higher than the previous year. <br/><br/>The production of vegetables is estimated to be about 181 million tonnes which is about 1 per cent higher than the previous year.<br/>
