State owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, ONGC has got environmental clearance for a project in the Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh. This project of drilling 45 development wells and other related infrastructure will cost over 53,000 crore rupees. <br/><br/>A senior Environment Ministry official told PTI, it is expected that the proposed project would lead to production of 51.33 billion cubic meters of gas over a period of 16 years and 26.71 million cubic meters of oil in 12 years.<br/><br/>Among specific conditions, ONGC has been asked to obtain Coastal Regulation Zone, CRZ clearance and use high efficiency diesel for its generator sets. It is also to adopt conservation measures to protect marine life and develop waste minimisation plan.
