The National Anti-Doping Agency, NADA, has imposed a one-year ban on six top Indian women athletes for flunking dope tests earlier this year.They include Asian Games double gold medalist Ashwini Akkunji, Mandeep Kaur, Sini Jose, Tiana Mary Thomas, Priyanka Panwar and Jauna Murmu.According to an official release, the decision was announced by Anti Doping Disciplinary Panel of NADA, in New Delhi today.Talking to reporters head of the panel Mr. Dinesh Dayal said all athletes can appeal against the bans to the NADA appellate panel.He added the body has announced a reduced penalty period as the athletes were not found guilty of intentionally taking the banned substances.The decision can affect the chance of the athletes to participate in the upcoming London Olympics.
