One person dies in Delhi after consuming adulterated kuttu flour; 50 more admitted to hospitals in UP

In Uttar Pradesh about 50 more persons have been admitted to hospitals in western districts including Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bulandsahar after consuming adulterated kuttu flour. More than 200 persons took ill and were admitted yesterday in western districts. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that several of admitted persons have been discharged from the hospital as their condition was stable. The Food and Drug Authority officials have conducted state wide raids and arrested about 20 persons including owner of flour mill owner and whole sale dealers. A factory has also been sealed while lodging FIR against the factory owner. The team has collected samples and seized several quintals of kuttu flour during raids. In Ghaziabad district 12 persons have been arrested allegedly involved in selling of adulterated flour. Bulandshahr district FDA officials have destroyed 1400 packet adulterated kuttu ka atta and lodged FIR against a factory owner. Godowns and stocks of Kuttu flour were also seized in Ghaziabad and at least seven persons were nabbed in Muzaffarnagar. FDA officials have also conducted raids in some districts in eastern region and over 10 quintals of packed Kuttu flour, suspected to be adulterated, was destroyed. FDA has opened a toll free number 18001805533 to get information and complaints about adulteration.
