One person arrested for making threat call to Air India office

The Kolkata Police apprehended a person for making threat call to Air India. Prasanta Biswas, 35, a resident of Garaponta Kalam Bagan, Bongaon of North 24 Parganas district , West Bengal, was arrested last night. Deputy Commissioner of Special Task Force, Kolkata Police, Amit P. Javalgi told AIR, that the threat call was made from a mobile Number.

The mobile phone was seized and the accused was brought to Bowbazar Police Station in Kolkata. Mr. Javalgi said, it seems to be an act of mischief. Our Kolkata correspondent reports, an annonymous call was received at Air India's Kolkata booking office, threatening that its flight would be hijacked.

A special team set up with officials of the Special Task Force and Detective Department of Kolkata Police launched an investigation and tracked the number from which the call was made. Security around the country's airports including Kolkata International Airport has been stepped up and all anti-hijacking measures put in place after intelligence agencies warned of a possible hijack attempt.
